Not every certification tells you the same thing. Some verify chemical safety in the finished fabric, others audit labour practices on the factory floor, and others confirm environmental management systems. Knowing the difference helps you ask the right question when a supplier lists five acronyms on their profile.
As a rule of thumb: OEKO-TEX and GOTS speak to material and chemical safety, while BSCI, SEDEX and WRAP speak to social compliance and ethical labour practices. A well-rounded factory partner usually holds at least one from each category.
